Augmented and Virtual Reality Design

Shared Course between James Madison University and George Mason University

Overview

This course is a survey of Virtual and Augmented Reality design and development. It is intended for novices to game development. We will challenge you to quickly develop a working knowledge of the Unity Game Engine. We will have access to the latest and the best Virtual Reality equipment and computers. We will be making working, and meaningful VR applications and experiences for PC & Mobile, and AR experiences for android devices.

Objectives:

Students who complete this course:

  1. Will be capable of building and deploying VR experiences for the HTC Vive
  2. Can build out a camera and control rig in the Unity Game engine for use in VR
  3. Will be capable of designing and implementing compelling Virtual and Augmented Reality Interfaces
  4. Can build and deploy mobile VR experiences for android-based VR headsets
  5. Can build out basic Augmented Reality applications on android devices
  6. Have a thorough understanding of past, current and future AR/VR technology and applications
