Reflective responses are the most authentic forms of assessment, but up till now they have been impossible to evaluate at scale. If we can develop a natural language processing program with machine learning and AI techniques to automate the assessment process, it would open the door for more reliable assessments for the university and it would also affect the way we assess students in JMU X-Labs classes.
